Update Conflict. Error Code 131 on Elements

I normally use Elements every day but I have been unable to get it to work for the last three days.  I was using it one minute, I went to lunch, when I came back I  was going to update a new request to update.

I was doing it the same way I always do it when I got a box saying "Update Conflict and Error Code 131" message.  I would have been better off not trying to update the program.  The box will not go away, nor let me get back to the older version.  I am so far behind now I want to shoot my computer.  I once loved computers but I am beginning to hate them.  Just after I fix one problem, a new one pops up.

If anyone can tell me how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.  If I upgraded would that install anything that might be missing?
