Question

updating camera raw to 7.3 in elements 11

The old advice for this suggests using the help/update option in elements 11 but selecting that does not appear to offer any action. Is there a solution? The camera raw version needs to be 7.3 or later but compatible with elements 11.

Thanks, Jeff.  I foolishly thought that the download link would install the latest version.  I didn't bother looking for Updates.  Elements 11 has now successfully updated to ACR 7.4 on my Windows 11 installation.

I've been following this thread because I want to upgrade to Camera Raw 7.3 from 7.1 in my Elements 11 installation on Windows 10. Trying the update route in the editor was a dead end and I have tried downloading some of files mentioned but have achieved nothing except an increase in my downloaded files folder because the follow-up actions were not explicit to me. Now, I'm willing to admit that being 84 next month may have a bearing on this and you will appreciate that the-simpler-the-better appeals. Searching for an existing Camera Raw file on my computer, I found an 8bit(?) file of 21,763KB in program files(x86); Common files; Adobe; Plug Ins; Elements 11; File Formats; dated 16/5/2012, which I assume is 7.1. Would it be possible to simply replace this with the equivalent 7.3 file? I think I could manage that! If so, where could I get that file?

See if installing a more up to date Adobe Application Manager works:

I just did a fresh Windows 10 x64 install with photoshop elements 11 and from within the photoshop elements editor, Help>Updates worked.

When you click on Help>Updates from within the photoshop elements editor, nothing happens?

Jeff, that installer wouldn't work for me on Windows 11, even using compatibility mode.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Elements 11 from the link that was available in my Adobe.com Products page.  It installed ACR 7.1 in the 32-bit program directory mentioned earlier.  Here is a screenshot of the directory which also contains the ACR 7.4 version which I have renamed with a tilde.

Jeff, I had to edit my earlier post.  I fiddled around with some plug-ins on my computer and was able to get ACR 7.4 to work with Elements 11.  I found a copy in the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 11\File Formats

So, Jeff, if you have a good link to ACR 7.4 please give it and we can perhaps give further instructions to @terryl34788913 .

Try this camera raw 7.4 installer:

Probably better to follow Greg's advice to get a more updated camera raw 10.5

I have edited this post because I was completely wrong about being able to update Elements 11 to ACR 10.5 which is the oldest version of ACR available on the Adobe website.  I am reasonably confident that you will be able to update ACR to 7.3 but I need to do some testing to find out the best way for you to do so.
