Upgrading and Transferring

Two other steps to consider before migrating to a new computer:

- use the menu Help to 'deactivate' or 'sign out' to free the license for use in another computer. You may want to have both the PSE8 and PSE14 version together in the new computer.

- If you have catalogs on the old computer, use the backup and restore method to get both your image files library folder trees and your catalog on the new drive. The restore process takes care of reinstalling everything and keeping the links to the new location; at the end of the move, the catalog is updated to the PSE14 catalog format. A new catalog is created from the data of the moved catalog, which is still available for version 8.

The "upgrade" is just a price discount for the new version.  Both programs can exist on the same computer as they are independent of each other.

Adobe, however no longer sells version 14. Be careful of counterfeit versions if you purchase on eBay or Amazon.
