Question

Upgrading Photoshop Elements

I have several versions of Photoshop Elements installed on three different computers.  Is there a way to consolidate all of these into the latest version of Elements on a new cmputer?  Also is there a "cloud" version vs. desktop version that can be used on multiple devices?   Thank you.

There is no cloud version, though. This is a local app. You need a license for each computer. (A subscription to Photoshop for $10 a month, on the other hand, can be installed on many computers for your own personal use, and you sign out/sign in between them).

To be clear a single Photoshop Elements license allows for installation on two computers, you just can't use the two at the same time.

Installing the Mobile app does not count as one of the installs.

To be even more precise, the single license allows two installations activations on different computers.

- a [license] activation means registering the internal identification of the hardware of a computer in an Adobe server to allow it to work. Two recognized (activated) computers can be allowed to work (separately) without needing to be further activated, which is also called needing to be 'signed in'.

- more installations are allowed provided there is only one computer signed it at that moment. So, you just have to deactivate (= sign out in the help menu) from one of the two currently activated computers to free an activation for a new computer.

Contrary to what happens with a subscription like the Photographer's plan, with Elements, you can only deactivate one computer from an activated computer. You can't deactivate from your user account. That means that if one of the activated computers is no longer available (stolen, broken...) your only solution is to call Customer care, preferably by chat. They will do it for you.

Another tip:

If you are using three or more computers by activating / deactivating them alternatively, you might consider storing your catalog file as well as your media files trees (the 'library') on a single external drive that you plug in alternatively to each computer. In Windows, be sure to have the external drive recognized with the same drive letter. The simplest way to install your library and catalog folder on the external drive is to create a full backup on a different external drive, then restoring it on the common destination external drive.

. . . And you can only use the program on one computer at a time.

You can upgrade to the latest 2023 ver, however, there is a charge, though you can get a discount

because you already own a pse ver.

You can install and use photoshop elements on two different computers.

(i.e. 2 windows or 2 mac or one mac and one windows)

(only the versions from third party sellers have both a mac and windows license)

There is a Mobile version, but so far it doesn't offer near the functuality of the desktop ver.
