Upgrading Photoshop Elements 13 to 2023 version

Hi all,

I have Photoshop Elements 13, with nearly 47,000 photos, which I use regularly; mainly the Organizer (I had versions 4 & 8 previously too).

I'm currently working with Windows 8.1 but due to it no longer being supported I was thinking of upgrading Windows to version 10 or 11. From what I've just read, Elements 13 is not supported by Windows 10 or 11, & the 2023 version is not compatible with Windows 8.1, so you can see my conundrum.

Therefore, in your opinion, what is the best way to get my Photoshop Elements 13 data running in Windows 8.1 onto probably a new laptop running Windows 11 with Photoshop Elements 2023 installed? Is it simply just a case of backing up my existing PSE13 Catalog to an external hard drive & loading it into PSE2023? Any compatibility issues there?

Thanks in advance,

Mwnci bach.

Yes, it should be that simple.  You will use the Elements 2023 Organizer's File>Restore Catalog menu to install your Elements 13 catalog and media to the new computer.  The catalog will be automatically converted to PSE 2023.

Added:  You may find that some project files (those with a .pse extension) will not be available in the newer version because the older features have been eliminated or improved in such a way that the old project file will not be compatible.
