Using Text Tool causes Photoshop Elements 2018 (Mac) to crash

From searching the Community Forums it seems that this is a recurring and common issue with PSE . . . for years.

Has any solution been found?

Does the problem occur with PSE 2019? If not, that would be a strong reason to upgrade.

Any advice will be most welcome. Right now, for my purposes, the program is nearly useless.

A simple reset will often do the trick. Go to this link and select the T tool:

I tried the reset and it didn't help. Also updated to 2018.1, evidently just available, and that did not help either.

Try adding the apps to the control list in Privacy if not already listed. See this thread which refers to PSE 2019 and adapt for your own version.
