Very unimpressed with software version availability.

Hi,

I've been trialling Photoshop Elements version 2022 for about a week now and its great. I downloaded the 30-day trial version from the Adobe website.

My old mac is not compatible with version 2023, but 2022 works just fine. And its a great product.

So, I decided to purchase it. The trial version asks me each day if I'd like to buy it. So today I bought it. The  product made available to me to download is version 2023! Very disappointed.

I just had a webchat with one of Adobe's support assistants and they said 2022 is no longer available to purchase.

I don't understand why version 2022 is being offered for a 30-day trial then? Why is there no version check before purchase? Why can't Adobe just give me a serial key to let me unlock the 2022 trial version which runs great?  Very unimpressed.

I am unable to upgrade my mac, so my only option appears to be to try and get hold of a copy of Elements 2022 somewhere else.  Poor show Adobe.

Hi @Rob304282239rmn.  I assume that you downloaded Elements 2022 from this link.  If so, I can understand your frustration.  It is true that Adobe will only sell its current version of Elements.  But, historically, it has maintained the last two versions available on the download page.   I believe one of the reasons for this has been that updates are occasionally posted for the current version and this has allowed the updated version to be posted for those who need to reinstall the program and may have received the original via DVD disc.

The problem you are facing is one that really only affects Mac users.  Updates to the MacOS are frequently incompatible either with older computers or older versions of Elements.  In contrast, I am able to use Elements 4 on my Windows 11 machine.  IMO, this is an Apple problem, not an Adobe one.

In any event, if you have not already done so, you should be able to get a (30 day guarantee) refund for the Elements 2023 program you purchased, since you can't use it.  You will have to  contact Adobe support for this.

And to avoid others being misled like you, I am going to report the webpage issue to Adobe.
