Want to Hide folders in editor form the view tree in elements organizer 2023

Question

Hi everybody,

I work on a Mac with photoshop elements 2023 and want to hide some folders in my view treeview [want to keep that treeview], it concerns folders that are not holding pictures but link to. My Mac's HDD, movies and other USB found folders.

I have searched but cannot find or do not understand how to do this,

There must be a way that you can assign the folders you need in your organiser yourself right?

Hopefully someone can en will help me out.

I don't know of any way to manage the visibility of folders in the organizer treeview.

You could select a folder, select all its catalogued files and mark them as 'hidden'. That way, the files itself would not be visible in the chosen folder, but the folder would stay visible in the tree view.

The whole "folder view" in the organizer is not the basis of its organization. The power of the organization is in the management of tags and albums categories. Providing a tree view additionally was a difficult requirement to implement without bugs until PSE11. The current solution has to keep in sync the tree of the OS (Explorer/Finder) with the tree constructed by scanning all catalog files catalog data, reading their place in the tree and drawing the new view. It has to distinguish folders with or without files, as well as showing empty folders containing subfolders with photos... The price for this solution is that you often have to use frequently the 'show all' option to display the real OS tree. So, I think that what you want has little chance to be implemented if you can't show that it's a new feature necessary to many users.
