Warning tone

How do I turn off the incredibly annoying warning tone that warns me there is already a version saved. I am using an editor. An editor is used to edit existing things so of course there is a copy already saved.

The answer is half right. "On first save" has always been set to "Ask if original" and I still got the beep. I switched it to the second option, "Save over current file" and the beep stopped. C+

I am sure you are overwriting your originals. That's your choice.

Well that worked until I restarted PSE. I get the warning tone again. You seem to think I am being reckless by overwriting my files. I agree but I use my earphones all the time to answer the phone which seems to ring constantly so I have no choice but to have them on. There are also other applications that are running that require I can hear them. I am perfectly happy with the warning message that I am overwriting and agree it is worth having. It is just the very loud piercing beep that is incredibly annoying.

Menu Edit >> Preferences.

Select the 2nd choice: Saving files

In the 'On first save' line, set to either 'Ask if original' or 'Save over current file'.

Good practice is to NEVER overwrite originals automatically.
