What directx version do I need?

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 9 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.  I acquired a computer virus and had to do a Clean Install.  That wiped off all my programs, etc.  I have the DVD's for both the above programs and reloaded them.  The reload went OK except for when I want to run ORGANIZER I get an error message...

"DirectX could not be initialized.  Please be sure that is installed on your system.  You can download the latest DirectX installer from:  http//www.microsoft.com/directs."

This website does not work..  It says that the page I requested can not be found.

I have directx version 12 on my computer.  Do I need directx 9 and if so, how do I get it?

Can you help me with this problem?

Hi Melvin, try this. Go to:

Control Panel >>Programs >> Programs and Features >> Turn Windows Features on or Off

Then choose Direct Play under Legacy Components – see images below

    Hi

I have moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Photoshop Elements forum where you are more likely to get help relevant to your issue
