When trying to save image it says not enough RAM space -- please help

I am trying to save photos in photoshop elements 14 and also in 2018 - I have tried both, and I get a message saying there's not enough RAM available to save the image or even when I tried to click on "sharpen image"... still says not enough RAM.  How do I correct this so I can use photoshop elements?  I am at a stand still and can't even use it, it won't save anything due to this problem.
