Question

Why does using a style automatically simplify my text layer in PSE15?

In PSE11, when I selected a text layer and then chose a style (let's say stroke), it would add the style to the font and that's it. I liked it that way. But now, in PSE15, when I follow the same procedure, instead of the stroke being added to the text, it automatically simplifies my layer instead. Then I have to select the style a second time to actually get the stroke. But now my font is simplified. Is there a setting that I am missing, is this a bug, or just an irritating change to PSE?

Thanks!

It does not for me, same behaviour in PSE15 and previous versions.

My guess is that you are trying to put a stroke on a text layer, not a style.

To get a stroke without simplifying, after selecting the text, create a new empty layer just above the text one, and put the stroke on that new layer. The stroke is not a vector  like text and it is managed independently from the vector text layer.
