Question

I imported digitized old slides into PSE 2020, tagged them and used the Add Location button of the Organizer to drag them into the right places on the map. After that, the location, description, date, etc. all ended up correctly in the IPTC data and were visible with exiftool. So far so good.

What I can't find anywhere, for the heck of it, are the coordinates of the assigned locations. Does anyone know where and in what format the organizer stores them? I would like to use them as GPS coordinates in the images.

By the way, this would be my suggestion for a new function: If there are no GPS coordinates yet, the organizer would enter the coordinates of the assigned location as XMP parameters on request.

Hi @GerhardR

I don't think the lack of answers to your question is due to German vs English.

There is not much documentation on the way the coordinates are recorded in the catalog database, and that's not something many other volunteers here are acquainted with. I don't need nor use geotagging, but I'll try to have a look.

Meanwhile, I suggest you have a look at the Geosetter software which is often used together with PSE for that purpose. It uses the Exiftool metadata management program.

Hi @MichelBParis,

thank you for the hint. I use both, exiftool and Geosetter. I was just hoping I could transfer the coordinates from Organizer to Geosetter to correct them there where necessary.
