Your recommendation for photo editing software

I bought Photoshop Elements 15 in 2017. I thought it was a good quality software. I do not use it often in the past 18 months. But now the software is useless because of a RAM problem. It appears there was a software update that created this RAM problem. My research into the fix to problem, as posted by Abode, is beyond my computer abilities. Now the Elements 15 software is a piece of garbage. Can anyone recommend a photo editing software that is reliable as Adobe Photoshop appears to be as good as the first updates.

The problem is known to have been caused by a Windows 10 OS update by Microsoft.

Many people have fixed the issue by entering a number in the registry. See instructions in the link from Jeff.

Any software can be affected by updates from either Microsoft or Apple. So it’s difficult to make alternative recommendations; other than keeping apps up to date.

I wonder if we should transfer this to the Elements forum so the OP can fix the RAM issue. Then talk about alternative software if that is not possible.
