Importing old Adobe Premiere Elements projects into Pro in Creative Cloud on Mac

Does anyone know how to import old Premiere Elements projects (created on a Windows machine and containing .prel files) into a current version of Premiere Pro on a Mac?  I'm told to read the user manual, but haven't readily found an answer.  I need to import them to enable me to save fresh rendered copies.

Thanks John.  I will give it a go, as the time impact will be significant otherwise.

You can't.  It can only be done on Windows.

Peru Bob, thanks for your reply.

OK, that’s really disappointing. So, to clarify, you believe that I need to find a Windows machine running Premiere Pro open the project and then I can save the project in latest Pro format, which should then be readable in Pro on a Mac?

IMO its not worth it. All you might end up with a timeline with just clips. Most effects are not supported in Pro or lacking on a Mac.
