I have just bought PE 2026.   I am trying it for use it for the first time and I have just discovered that It does not read correctly the MTS files that my old version of PE was using without problems.

PE 2026 does not identify the audio part of the clips.

What can I do ?

If you have a new W 11 install the dolby ac3 audio is no longer supported by Microsoft.

You either need to install the ac3 codec (download link is tested by several users) or

https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/dolby_ac_3ac_4_installer.html

Convert the audio to PCM.

Next time you use your camera set it to PCM audio.

Disregard the correct answer in the link John gave: does not apply to Elements.

Ann, thanks.   But I am not out of the woods yet.

I have downloaded the program through your link (program: Switch by NCH).     But it does not offer to convert the audio to a "PCM" format.   It offers about twenty possibilities, but not PCM.

In addition, my files are MTS (which older versions of PE handled without problems).    I have about 600 of them (a three-week trip to France).   Will the program you suggested convert the audio part without damaging the video part ?

Thanks also for your future help.

Microsoft as in W11 does not support the codec anymore which means Elements cannot play the audio.

I do not know Swith.

I suggest downloading the plugin instead of converting.

Or use an older pc with W10 and Elements , just for this project.
