Question

Viewing window doesn't open...

after I load a video clip.  Loading MPG videos.

When this happens, I need to reboot.  If I close premiere and try to open it again, it won't open.

After rebooting it will sometimes work normally, but often I need to reboot a couple times.

Frustrated,

Don

Sorry, I've never seen anything like that. I don't know what to recommend other than to contact Adobe Customer Care via chat and have them troubleshoot it.

Adding a jpg to timeline does not open panel monitor as you can see.  Clicking play button does nothing.  This is the time when I need to close the program (it won't restart), and then reboot.

Was there something else that you suggested as an experiment?

    Thanks

Glad you found the book helpful, tj!

I look forward to hearing of the results of the experiment I proposed.

Just another thought;  Once it gets in a funk like this (not showing panel monitor), I can load an existing project that was successfully created, and it also will show up on the timeline but no panel monitor.

    Steve,

I just realized who you are.  I have your book from 2008 on Premiere Elements 7.  I am honored.

    I use dual monitors:

    Viewsonic 27inch at 1920 x 1080

    Samsung 49inch 4k TV at 3840 x 2160

You need to know that I have used this program successfully for some time with the present system.  Don't know what could have changed unless it was a windows update or something of that nature.

After a reboot, the program is working again.  Jpg on timeline automatically opens monitor panel, and adding video clips work correctly.

    Thanks,

    Don

The Monitor panel is there. It's just not showing your timeline's video.

If you open a new project and put a JPEG on the timeline and then press play, do you see the photo in the Monitor?

We need to do this in order to eliminate the possibility that the video itself isn't the problem.

OK, back to the same old problem.  The monitor panel won't open.  The media is on the timeline.  Please see attched photo.

Once this happens, If I close premiere elements, it won't reopen, I need to reboot.

It least I am back to my original confusion.

You don't see the Monitor panel at all?!

What happens if you go to the program's Window menu and select Restore Workspace?

Meantime, what is your monitor's resolution? It could be, particularly if you're a laptop, that it's too low to allow the program to completely display.

BTW, were there any problems noticed on the media clip?  from the mediainfo print out.

    Thanks
