In versions of Adobe Premiere Pro prior to 2023, using the touchpad to swipe across the timeline or media would trigger a scrubbing function, allowing for quick playback of video. However, in the 2023 version and later, this functionality seems to have been replaced, with swiping now zooming in and out of the timeline instead of scrubbing. Is there any way to restore the previous behavior?

The "fast playback" functionality is still available in Premiere Pro. To use it, make sure you restrict your swiping to the time ruler located at the bottom of the Program Monitor.
