2020 update, yet another fail. Any tips on overcoming slow program?

Updated my premiere, everything went slow. Updated all my drivers, still slow. Past version runs fine but they claim that the new one is faster and a more optimized version.. Current project is well organized and clean. Used to run 1/2 resolution on 4K files (proxied 720p 422 prores) works flawlessly on previous version.. Now 1/8 resolution on proxied file is WAY SLOWER.

 

Is there anything else I need to try to make this update work? Currently using the older version for now...

 

Specs - Intel i7 8750H 2.20GHz | 32GB ram | GTX1080 | Windows 10

Try turning off wifi. I could barely scrub the timeline after the update in BOTH 2019 and 2020. This somehow worked for me.
