24.4.1 - Disabling "Generate Waveforms Automatically..." setting no longer has any effect?

I just updated to 24.4.1 and noticed that all imported audio was automatically generating waveforms even though "Generate Waveforms Automatically..." in settings is DISABLED.

My team works via lucidlink and this setting being disabled is a must, as it wrecks lucidlink performance on large projects.

Can anyone else confirm this is no longer working for them?

Yes I have the same problem. I uncheck the box when opening the project only to have it turn on at some point and slow the whole program down to a crawl.
