Question

4k at 60% on 1080 Project looks blurry

Hi there

I'm working on a project shot at 4k but I'm editin/exporting it at 1080 to allow for a bit of cropping, zooms etc

I've noticed that on some of the footage where I've zoomed in a bit to 60 or 70% it looks blurry?

any help on this would be great

Thanks!

Hi! When you shoot in 4K and export in 1080p, you can zoom in without losing quality—but only up to around 200%. If you're zooming to 60-70%, you're technically scaling down, not up, so it shouldn't look blurry unless the footage is out of focus, has motion blur, or you've applied effects or scaling improperly.

Thanks, I think that's what my issue is;

The footage is in focus, has no motion blur and has no effects.

How would I be scaling improperly? Might be something for me to investigate

Hi!

Sorry for the issue. Could you share a screenshot so we can better understand the problem? Please also mention your current Premiere Pro version.

Is the blurriness also in the exported media, or do you only see it on the preview?

Thanks,

Ishan

Thank you

So I've attached a split screen, the one on the right is at 53% and the one on the left is 71%

This screen shot is taken from the exported video

Another example, the one in the middle is at 50%, and then the one on the right is 60% and the one on the left is 67%

Make sure the image are set to Fit to Frame and not Scale to Frame.

You should be able to zoom in to 100% without loss of quality.

Also set Program monitor to Full

Thank you

So the images are fit to frame ie they're all at 50% and then I've zoomed in to 60 and they're blurred
