4k proxie project -- proper sequence settings?

If you have a 4kp project (shot in 4k needing to export in 4k), do you keep the sequence settings at 4k even though you are working with proxies? OR what are the proper sequence settings?

You keep the sequence 4K but choose a lower resolution proxy (e.g. Prores).

Export will be done with the original files unless you choose otherwise in the export settings.
