Question

A way to simultaneously move audio and video clips to higher numbered tracks?

Hi all,

Let's say I have a clip with linked audio, the video is in V2 and the audio is in A2. When I click and drag the video, it moves the video and layer clips to whatever tracks are vertically above the current ones so video to V3 and the audio to A1. Is there a way to make the audio and video both move to chronologically higher numbered tracks (so the video to V3 and the audio to A3) rather than both of them moving to tracks positioned physically higher in the UI (V3 and A1).

I think there are several Idea 'request' posts on this, go through the Idea post searching to see if you can find one or more. That is something shoulda been an option years ago.

Thanks, I'll check that out! Is there something I'm supposed to be doing differently in work flow to avoid this problem or is it just a quirk of Premiere that everyone just has to deal with?

It's just something you have to deal with.

While often, one would not want that behavior if you have a densely stacked audio tracks setup with different tracks for different types of audio, there are times you want to move them together.

Find Idea posts asking for this, upvote them, and even post a link to the threads here.

I've nevr been aware of a way to do this - even though there a certainly a few workflows where this is useful and I have found myself wanting to do this exact thing. I think it would make a good feature request.
