Adobe Encore exporting 5.1 audio for a DVD downmixes to Stereo

Does anyone know how to export a DVD in Adobe Encore with 5.1 audio for PAL?

I'm using an .ac3 file for the audio which has 5.1 LRCLfeLsRs audio in 6 mono channels.

When I export the DVD in Adobe Encore, the 5.1 audio seems to downmix to Stereo (Dolby Ditial 2.0).

I'm not experiencing this issue while exporting for Blu-ray in Adobe Encore so it probably has something to do with my Adobe Encore settings for DVD.

I've set up the audio for Dolby Digital. Is this the correct format?

Can anyone please explain to me how I can fix this issue?

What is the bit rate of the AC3. Bluray will accept a higher rate, it might be that for the dvd the Ac3 is getting re-encoded as the rate is too high. I don't have Encore or the Dolby encode installed any more so i cant check the exact figures.

Hi Richard, I'm using a bitrate of 640 kbps so you might be right about that.

I will do a test with an 448 kbps encode to see if that works!

An encode with 448 kbps seemed to do the trick in order to make the 5.1 audio work.

Thanks for your help Richard!
