Question

Adobe Premier Pro CS6 File Type Error - MP4

Hi, I am currently using Adobe Premiere CS6. Unfortunately, Premiere will not support MP4 files as a video file, only an audio file which is very annoying. Changing the file extension to .mov works, but the video does not show up, audio does. Does anybody know hoe to allow Premiere to use mp4 as a video type? Thank you!

MP4 should be showing both audio and video so maybe try and look at premiere's preferences and make sure you have MP4 added as one of the file types that it can read. Also make sure that the MP4 files you are trying to add are not corrupted and that they work. If all else fails you can always convert the file into other compatible formats such as .mov.

MP4 is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

Hi, thanks a lot for responding. I got the default codec and such by looking through with Handbrake. This is it:

Since you have handbrake, use it to convert that variable frame rate to a constant frame rate
