Adobe Premiere 2025 not responding and freezing

Hi,

I can no longer use my Adobe Premiere. One day I’m editing normally, and the next day I can’t even open or create any project because the software stops responding before the workspace even loads. As a result, the frozen window prevents me from using any other software. Please understand that it’s not the operating system that is frozen—only the Adobe Premiere window.

All drivers are up to date. I’ve already reinstalled the software and even Creative Cloud. All other Adobe programs work normally, including After Effects. When this happens, I have to force the machine to shut down using the physical power button, because trying to shut down or restart results in hours on the “shutting down” screen that never completes.

After countless attempts, I managed at least to access Premiere’s settings tab. I allocated more RAM, cleared the cache, and during the uninstallations I removed every single trace of installation folders so that the reinstallation would be as clean as possible to fix bugs—but nothing worked.

My laptop is running Windows 11 64-bit, with an Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80 GHz (1.99 GHz), 16.0 GB of installed RAM (15.9 GB usable), and a 2 GB graphics card.

I would try to delete the Preferences and thus start over with the default settings in Premiere Pro.

Close Premiere Pro and open Explorer (Win+E) and go to C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\25.0\Profile-Name and delete the file named Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs. Launch Premiere Pro and see if it helped. Note that the list of projects will be gone from the Recent but they are still on your disk/s. Any settings you made earlier will be gone so you may have to redo them.
