Question

Adobe Premiere Pro 14.1.0 Cross Dissolve Bug?

Hello. I used Cross Dissolve effect to fade a video's end to black. Even though that in Premiere it looks fine, after exporting the video, the last frame is not completely black and you can still see some of the background.

Here are the pictures: https://imgur.com/a/GaxCBQl

Does anyone have any idea why is that happening? Thank you.

Hey, no worries ... there's about 20 ways to do anything in Premiere.

To use opacty, you set keyframes ... click on the clip where you want the fade to start, and then in the ECP click on the stopwatch beside Opacity. Then move the playhead (CTI) to the end of the clip, and then go to the ECP and click on the percentage number for opacity, and set it to 0.

You now have two keyframes in the ECP. Select the first keyframe, right-click, and set if to "ease out", the last one, and set that to "ease in". That may get you smooth enough movement.

If you want further changes, perhaps select the keyframes and choose say constant bezier to get a smoother movement.

The newish "Reference" pdf has much that may be of use to you ...

As that is a transition, it's really meant to work between two clips.

Have you tried simply using the opacity control in the ECP to fade to black? I find this simpler.

Thank you for your reply Neil.

I have not mentioned that I am a complete newbie and do not know almost anything about Premiere.

The reason why I chose Cross Dissolve is because of this:

"Cross Dissolve transition

Cross Dissolve fades out clip A while fading in clip B.

Cross dissolve can also work well at the beginning or end of a clip when you want to fade in or out from black."

Does ECP mean Effect Controls Panel? I can see an Opacity option over there, but that affects the whole video / sequence (if that is correct).
