Adobe premiere pro crashing when exporting video containing large images

Hi

I have a problem with my pp crashing when trying to export a sequence. The sequence in question consists of large still images (37000x6000 px): it is basically a panning over a still image panorama. Exporting sequences of video works fine.

The little exporting box shows up, but after a few seconds the program crashes. The CPU usage spikes at about 700%.

So I first tried changing the renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software only, which didn't help. Then I changed "Optimize renedering for" to memory. This actually made the export box show an ETA for the export, but just for a few seconds and then it crashed again.

I'm using a 2017-Imac (before, I did this exporting on my 2012 MacBook which was slow but didn't crash...)

Anyone with experience on this? Thanks

So, reduced the size of the source image to 20 000 x 4044 px, and export is now working. This is around the same total amount of pixels (80 880 000) compared to the when I did this on my old computer (28233 x 2866 = 80 915 778). Maybe there's a cap of total pixel amount at 81 000 000 pixels?

It's more likely limited by your computer's CPU, RAM, VRAM, or drives.

The image exceeds the maximum size image allowed in Premiere Pro:

The maximum frame size to import still images and movies is 256 megapixels, with a maximum dimension of 32,768 pixels in either direction.

    from here:

Premiere Pro CC supported file formats

Thanks for your answer Peru Bob!

I apologize for a typo in the last post, the image I imported was never 37 000 px, it was 30 000. I did try importing one that was 37 000 but that only produced an error message (File exceeds limit or something like that). So, the problem is with the 30 000 px image. I now also tried an image of 20 000 x 6000 px and get the same problem there.

Also, Premiere is rendering and playing the animation in the program monitor just fine. As I said I did this before on my 5-year old Macbook, but with different dimensions. (28233 x 2866) I will try these dimensions and see if that works. I guess the total number of pixels in the image could have an impact.
