Question

Adobe Premiere Pro (PP) 2021 can't support MP4 or AVI

Hi, i'm looking for help and i hope someone willen have the sollution.

Everytime I import a video in Adobe PP  (2021) that has a MP4- or AVI format, the program will crash. at first it freezes for 20 seconds, and after that i can no longer use the program. the preview will stay blank en no edits can be made from that point on. even closing the program won't help, i have to restart the laptop for it to work again. I found out that MPEG-format doesn't crash Adobe PP.

My Lenovo laptop has a AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz and 16 GB RAM. At first i thought it might be a lenovo thing, but a friend of mine has an Acer laptop with an I7 processor and deals with the same issue. is there someone who can tell me if this is a known bug or that i can do something about it?

MP4 and AVI are both wrappers, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the program below
Free program to get file information for PC/Mac http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
- when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view
- post your information IN your message, not as an attachment that someone would have to download

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean install of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
