Adobe Premiere Pro severely lagging.

For the last few days Adobe Premiere Pro 22.4 has been severely lagging on iMac with the following specs:

Imac (Retina 5k, 27-inch 2020)
3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7
32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB
MACOS BIG SUR

Eventually, after deleting all the cache files and audio/video preview files, and recreating cache and peaks. The machine starts lagging when audio waveforms are enabled on the timeline. So if I have a large timeline with a lot of clips, the machine chokes when audio waveforms are being drawn. As soon as I turn off audio waveforms, Premiere is responsive again. As you may know, audio waveform visibility is highly important when we are editing.

We are working on local storage, NAS or any such devices are not used.

We need to solve this issue at the earliest.

Kindly let us know the way forward.

Thank you,

Thank you for your suggestion. Problem was because of the project opened in the older version of Premiere Pro. Now it's working fine after importing the project intop the latest version.

Any chance you can update this machine to macOS Monterey? There are a large number of performance increases I've noticed with Monterey over Big Sur.

Hey Priyadarshi,

My apologies for the poor experience. Is the problem occurring while waveforms are being generated or does it persist after generating waveforms?

Regards,

Ishan
