Question

Adobe Premiere Pro Slow on Good Laptop

Hey everyone,

I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro with HD videos on an "okay" laptop, but it was running slow.

Now I bought a new laptop with the goal to have Adobe run smoothly and also the option to work on 4K footage.

My Dell laptop  is not a killer machine, but it comes with an i7-11800H CPU, 64 GB of RAM and a Geforce RTX 3050 Ti 3GB graphics card, which I think is not too bad.

However, Premiere Pro is still so slow on the most default things. Adding a title animation, applying effects etc. takes forever. When things get too intense, Premiere Pro crashes.

Is my computer just not as good as I thought or what could be the problem?

Thanks for every advice and support 🙂

Niko

Your gpu is somewhat underpowered.

https://helpx.adobe.com/nl/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html

4 GB of GPU memory for HD and some 4K media

6 GB or more for 4K and higher

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I was wrong - it actually has 4 GB.

And you are right - for 4K it is probably not enough. Maybe I should stick to editing in 1080p, which still seems to be a gold standard 🙂
