After Effects Dynamic Link is not working correctly. Premiere Pro CC18

Question

I have the most up to date versions of PP and AE. My OS is Sierra 10.12.6 and everything else is specced out pretty well. My only guess is my OS isn't updated all the way.

But currently, the dynamic link feature won't bring over whatever media I'm trying to replace in PP into a composition in AE. The comp is completely black with nothing to work with.

Besides updating to 10.13.4 (as I've seen several things that have been an issue on the Mac side that somehow stopped being so with that OS) ... you might check on the AfterEffects forum. More Ae hard knowledge there. I do some mostly EGP stuff with Ae, so I'm not great at the linking issues as far as I'm concerned. Some of the Ae folks are rather stunningly brilliant at using that app.
