After effects files not importing into Premiere

Hi Everyone,

i'm trying to link some .aep files in my premiere composition that another editor made on her computer and then sent me the file.

I'm getting an error: After Effects 2020 must be installed. I have after effects 2021, could this be the problem, she needs to update her after effects? in any case it doesn't really make sense the files wouldn't be compatible after 1 annual update.

Importing an After Effects Composition uses Dynamic Link and Dynamic Link requires that the Adobe video and audio applications be the same release version.  So, yes, one update will prevent it from working.

Open the After Effects project in After Effects 2021 and save it, updating the AEP file from version 17 to 18.  Maybe make a duplicate of the AEP 1st as AE doesn't append a "_1" to the project file as Premiere Pro does.  You should be able to import the Composition into PR 2021 as expected then.

What if you resaved the file in 2021 before trying to import or export with intermediate codec?
