AI-assisted documentary logging in Premiere: is anyone integrating ChatGPT or other tools directly into workflow?

I’m curious how other people working in Premiere are currently using AI in a practical editorial/logging workflow.

A big part of my current project involves a lot of documentary-style footage and interviews, so I’ve started using ChatGPT almost like an assistant editor for logging and note generation. My current workflow is pretty manual, but surprisingly effective:

• I transcribe a clip in Premiere

• Export the transcript as a text file

• Paste that transcript into a ChatGPT thread

• Include a still frame from the clip

• Ask it to help assess what the clip is, describe visual content, suggest logging notes, categorize usefulness, etc.

I often times find this to be quicker and more effective than manually scanning the clip myself and inputting “manually”. I actually shot the footage, so I have good reference on if ChatGPT is right or not, and I am finding it surprisingly effective.

What makes it especially useful is that because I’ve talked extensively with ChatGPT about the larger project, it already understands the broader editorial context — who the people are, what the story is, recurring themes, what kinds of clips I’m likely looking for, and so on. So the responses are often surprisingly relevant in terms of clip description, scene labeling, and note prioritization.

For example, I might feed it a one-minute talking clip plus transcript and ask whether this feels like:

• strong narrative material

• transitional material

• emotional texture

• exposition

• B-roll support

• scene-setting, etc.

I’m finding it genuinely helpful, but obviously the workflow is clunky because it lives outside Premiere.

So my question is:

Are there now integrated tools, plugins, panels, or workflows inside Premiere that let you do something similar more directly?

Or has anyone successfully integrated ChatGPT (or another AI model) into Premiere in a meaningful way for:

• logging footage

• generating metadata

• categorizing clips

• transcript interpretation

• searching interviews semantically

• helping organize documentary projects

I know Premiere has transcription and search tools built in now, but I’m wondering what people consider the most powerful current AI-assisted workflow for large documentary projects.

Would especially love to hear from people handling lots of interviews / verité footage.
