Align the start of the subtitles with the video stream.

I started using Premiere Pro two days ago.

With that important introduction out of the way, I am asking for help in solving the following problem.

In some cases, the automatic translation of the subtitle track into another language generates the result shown in the screenshot.

 

To eliminate the gap, I tried the following methods:
“Ripple Delete,” but it is not available.
Select and drag manually, but I cannot select the entire subtitle.

I don't know of any other methods. How can I eliminate the gap so that the subtitles start at the same time as the video stream?

I liked your "important introduction." You seem to be finding your way well!

 

I have not seen the problem you have of a translated caption track being located at such a different timecode. That might need some investigation.

 

Caption tracks are not video tracks, and they have some important differences. But they also follow a lot of the same rules for moving.

 

You can use Ripple Delete. Lock the tracks that you do not want to move - the little lock icon in the track header area. In this case, those tracks are C1, V1, and A1. You do not want to ripple all the way to time zero, so add a caption at the beginning: click so the playhead is at the beginning, and only "enable" C2 (the eyeball for C1 is off). Click the + symbol in the Text panel/Caption tab. Adjust it so it ends at the beginning of C1. Now right-click in the empty part between that caption and the translated captions and pick Ripple Delete.

 

I don't have any problem dragging to select all the captions on C2, and then dragging them into position. I happen to be testing in the Beta version at the moment, and I am seeing a massive delay, so I have to wait for any action (with only 70 captions) to catch up.

 

You can also cut and paste, but you'd still have to select all the captions.

    After activating the lock on the second subtitle track, the “Ripple Delete” command worked.
