Question

Am I trying the impossible? Help with navigation and out-of-sync

I need to point a menu to a chapter within a timeline and then have it return to the menu or origin after only that chapter plays. Does this make sense? For example, I have a menu for "Play All" to play everything in a timeline. I also have menus for the individual music groups performing... so I want to only play selections from a particular performance group. These groups do not perform in sequence in the "Play All" timeline, so we have separate timelines for groups that perform more than one song. With me so far? For the groups playing just one song, I'd like to point them to just a chapter in the "Play All" timeline (and then return to the menu of origin).

Is this the right way to do this?

I'm sort of forced to consider doing it this way because one of the songs from a performance group that's in an individual timeline is out of sync and I cannot figure out why, but it plays fine in the "Play All" timeline, so if I can point to that and then have it return to the menu of origin... that should solve my problem.

Or, if you have suggestions on how to fix an out-of-sync timeline where the audio is a half second ahead of the video... I'm certainly willing to learn.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Posted the previous from my phone at dinner!

Yes, what you are trying to do is common practice, with many variations.

Regarding the sync, look for a gap in the timeline.

If you are saying that you are adding an asset for the same song more than once, for separate timelines, you do not need to do that. You can use Playlists and Chapter Playlists to mix and match.

You may get brief gaps as it shifts from playlist to playlist.

You don't say how you are trying to do it...

Use Chapter Playlists. Create one. Put just the one chapter in it. The end action on the playlist determines what happens when it ends.

The old method was overrides, but many users have a very hard time with those.

Ask more questions as needed.
