Question

And when did the Adobe developers decide they could control the volume in my project on their own??

Is this some kind of AI thing or what? The volume keeps changing on its own. And another thing—I turn the volume down, but it goes back up on its own. And vice versa. What kind of tricks are these? I don't find this funny! I want to control the volume myself in MY project. I don't need your help, Adobe.

Share a screenshot of your application window, including your Essential Sound and Audio Track Mixer panels.

Also, make sure you don't have any auto-leveling turned on in your computer settings or through any audio management apps.

I’m not sure what you are talking about … individual clips on a sequence, or all sound in Premiere going up or down, or … ?

I do know that some have had issues with unintentially triggering track adjustment levels without knowing it … is that your issue? That’s freaking annoying, I know.

I want to turn down the background music when the speaker is talking. But the sound actually gets louder! Even when I'm not doing anything and just scrolling through the timeline, the sound gets louder on its own. I've already tried two different audio files. How am I supposed to work if the developers make it this difficult?

That sounds like you may have accidentally triggered the track mixer volume keyframing. Check the Track mixer, and watch as you play the sequence, if that channel moves up and down on the slider.
