Any need to remove transitions before making EDL?

Question

Hi! Sometimes in Davinci, if I export an EDL, transitions show up as their own asset with unique in and out points, totally messing with the in and out points of the camera clips. I have to tweak the sequence to avoid this.

Is this an issue with Premiere? Do I need to simplify > remove transitions before export, or will the EDL disregard fade ins on audio tracks, for example, if I export an EDL without simplifying?

This is more a limitation of the old CMX 3600 format than a specific Davinci or Premiere Pro issue.

There are two ways to remove transitions before exporting an EDL.

Disable transitions on export
Go to File > Export > EDL, then untick Include Transitions.
Simplify the sequence
1. Open the sequence in the Timeline.
2. Choose Sequence > Simplify Sequence.
3. Under Remove From, tick Transitions.
4. Export the duplicated sequence as an EDL.
