Anyone had success, or not, with PP CC on a Macbook Air 2013?
Just sold my video editing laptop. Was going to sell my Macbook Air too and then get a better laptop like the Lenovo P70. However, I just thought I would check if my Macbook Air would work at all?
Have you used a Mac with similar specifications? If so was it too bad to recommend or acceptable?
I need to use Premiere Pro and I just use a single clip, so using proxies doesn't seem worth it to me. It is the exporting time I am more concerned about and whether it will be able to export. Please share your experience. I have already searched this forum, checked the system requirements (higher than my specs), Google and Youtube, but anyone using older Macs seems to stick with FCPX or just offer opinions with no real life experience.
My Specifications:
- MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013)
- Sierra: 10.12.3 (16D32)
- 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5
- Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
- Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
- 128GB storage
I wish to export Panasonic 4K video as H.265 and H.264 MP4s. Someone said; "You can't edit native 4k footage - but its possible to deliver if you use proxies." As I only deal with a single 20 minute clip I would be happy to make a proxy if need be. However, someone else said "the cooling on the air is not meant for long renders or editing that keeps the heat up. You will thermal damage the CPU eventually.", so even if it does work will it ruin the CPU and eventually break it due to heat?
I will be traveling so the Air would be great to keep with it being so portable compared to a big beast like the P70. I will be settled in one place most of the time so that isn't a massive deal. I won't be using Premiere Pro more than 3 times a month, so a longer rendering/export time would be fine.
Thank you
