APE 2025 will not link audio and video

have been using APE 2026 for a while with no issues. I now cannot put a clip on to edit with the video and audio linked. I’ve used the ‘unlink’ in the past and it is nothing connected to that as the menu will not give me the option to ‘link’. Any ideas on how to fix this would be great as it is doing my head in trying to exactly match the cut on video and again on audio. Only thing that works as one is the ripple delete - even if I try to move a clip manually, I have to move video and then go back to move audio as they will not link up in any way! PLEASE HELP
