Question

Apple ProRest 422 mov problem with grey and black

Hey there,

ive rendered a short video for my YouTube channel.
Its an animation for "subscribing" - but in 4K (only if you watch in 4K) there are issues with the black / grey parts of the animation. Its not shown when watching it on my MacBook only on YT 4K resolution.

What information are needed from your end to help me out?

Thanks for the details. The video is unavailable on YouTube. However, looking at the screenshots, it appears that compression artifacts may be occurring after YouTube compresses the media during the upload process. Especially as it is not present in the originally exported media. While exporting in ProRes HQ, you may try enabling the options Render at Maximum Depth & Use Maximum Render Quality to see if it helps.

These both options render with max depth and max render quality are always activate when I'm rendering so this could not be the problem.

After some testing this only accrues in 4k on chrome browsers.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about this. Would you mind sharing a screenshot showing the difference in the preview? Also, have you tried exporting in higher data rate variants, such as Apple ProRes 422 HQ & uploading to YouTube to see if it's working properly?

Thanks,

Sumeet
