Assign a hotkey to pause playhead in timeline.

I changed the function of space-bar to play-around and set pre-roll to zero seconds in preferences. I did this to enable me to return to initial position of  the playhead using space-bar to help me review clips faster and kind of loop like. But now I cant pause the playhead using any keys. I have tried assigning play-stop toggle to other keys, but that doesn't work too. Help appreciated! 🙂

I would suggest there is some underlying coding in Premeire built around the spacebar ... so return the spacebar to 'normal' operation and use other keyboard shortcuts to accomplish what you need.

are you on a mac or a windows machine?  Haven't worked in windows for decades, but on the mac, there can be conflicts between OS keyboard shortcuts and the shortcuts of specific applications.   Might just check in system preferences: keyboard: shortcuts

Why not setup some key for the original "Play-Stop toggle"

    While in default premiere pro keyboard shortcuts layout the k key does stop. But once I change spacebar function to play around , k doesnt stop the playhead. In fact, no keys do. I tried assigning other keys with play stop toggle, shuttle stop etc which also does not stop playhead.

    Are you using a US keyboard? What language are you working in?

    The K key doesn't stop playback? J-K-L work has been the bread and butter of working the playback system. J is reverse, K is stop, L is forward. Tap J or L a second or third time, it speeds up faster.
