Atrocious performance on Lenovo Slim 7 Gen 8

Hi guys, i upgraded my computer to the Slim 7 Gen 8 recently and i have been so happy with its performance overall. However, one app that absolutely slows to a grinding halt every time and is unusable with external ssds is Premiere. Anyone have any quick fixes for this? Cleared cache, still atrocious. Constant hangs. Really as i say entirely unable to function when i have 4k footage on a thunderbolt SSD. Transcoding takes FOREVER. Everything incredibly sluggish.

I have 32gb of ram in this configuration and two large internal SSDs as well as  4060 GPU which i know is not top of the range but is...good enough.

Any help would be appreciated.

From looking that thing up, it might be a bit rough to work with 4k/UHD footage, especially if H.264/5 and on an external SSD. You're barely running enough total RAM and vRAM to do so with probably ProRes.

And ... laptop GPUs are typically way below the performance of their desktop cousin of the same number. My Acer Triton's 2080Ti is not the same in capability as the 2080Ti in my desktop ... not even close.

Also ... make sure that the Preferences option for default audio input is set to None.

also notice that accessing things from libraries creates a total system lockup and i have to reboot the app. A nightmare.
