Attaching Proxies -Relink others automatically fail

Version 24.4.1
I prepared about 80 proxy files in a separate directory from the source via Media Encoder.
file names added -1 (example: source: 20250604_C1618.mp4 Procy 20250604_C1618-1.mp4).
I opened a project and imported the original video files (4K Sony cam).
On the Attached Proxies screen,  "Relink others automatically" is checked.
I select the first proxy file but Premiere doesn't automatically link the rest of the files
I've searched the forums - no solution. need your suggestions.
another side question- I'm affraid to upgrade because of the past updates with bugs..-does the latest version stable with less bugs?

Hi,

Thanks for the post. I think that your idea won't work since the naming of Proxies has to be in a certain format in order for them to be recognized as proxies. They have to be the same name except for "_proxy" - see if that works for you.

Thanks,
Kevin

thanks - it works.
I open Media Encoder as stand alone and open a task with the 80 files. (without Primeire) the default naming is fileneme_1_.mp4. -"another Adobe cleverness".
so to check it, I had to rename 80 files. didn't want to do it manualy and couldn't do it with the coammand prompt. I asked the AI told and "it told me" about program- "Advanced renamer". it works great.
