Attaching Proxies Turns Project Panel Thumbnails Dark Green & Unreadable

Do you still have the issue if you create a new project and then import the template project into it?

Hi @benjamina17887698 - Thank you for your help troubleshooting and I'm glad you found the root cause.  It sounds like at some point the project may have been corrupted.  At this point I would suggest creating a new template project.

What version did you create this template project in?  

Are you using the Premiere built in Templates?

Do you have sony catalyst installed on your machine? No, I've never had that installed and previously didn't experience this issue. My wife's PC doesn't have that either and has never had this bug (she has slightly older PC hardware).

Do you have the same issue when using the proxy feature in premiere pro? Not currently, see below.

As of 27/10/2025, I think I have narrowed the video down to a specific project that I use as a 'template' for starting new videos. For whatever reason, in that project alone I get the dark green thumbnail bug when a proxy is attached.

Using Premiere's built-in proxy generator, this does not happen - only when attaching my camera-generated proxies in this particular project. 

If I do the same in a fresh project in Premiere Pro v25.5, I never get the green thumbnail glitch with either method of proxy generation, so it doesn't appear to be a file type problem or related to the way my camera generates proxies. Moreso, it looks to be some setting difference between projects that directly causes this issue/bug.

Any way for me to generate/export some sort of report/settings list on this project, so I can work out any differences between projects and what may be causing the bug? I only have very minimal settings outside of the defaults for this template, such as window placement and some audio track mixer & export settings, so it surprises me that it appears to be the root cause.

Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that this project file was updated from a previous version of Premiere Pro at some point and that has induced this bug? It did start all of a sudden.

Thanks for the quick reply. Launching and resetting app preferences and clearing media cache files unfortunately didn't change anything. 

I've attached the file info for the proxy and the original video file. The proxy was created via the in-built proxy function on my Sony A7IV and then renamed in Bulk Rename Utility to have the _proxy suffix. This method worked fine when the files were on my regular PC drives, with no such thumbnail issues, but this dark green thumbnail problem has started since moving my workflow onto a Synology NAS.

Hi @benjamina17887698 -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.

Can you try and hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the boxes
"Reset app preferences" (Backup Preferences first)
"Clear media cache files"

How did you create the proxy files?

Could you share the media file properties for your proxy file? The easiest way is to download MediaInfo, switch the view mode to Text, and then send us a screenshot of the report.
