Audio and microphone allegedly faulty, but work

Hello,

 

my Adobe applications (Premiere and Audition, I haven't tested the others but I think it's similar) claim that my speakers and microphone are not working. That means I can't hear any sound and can't record anything. It either says that the audio device or microphone is not working or it says 'MME device: internal error' when I try to change the audio device selection.

It's not true that the devices are defective. I can play sound with all other apps or in the browser, and the microphone works fine with the Windows recorder.

The problem came up with the last update of your software.

I've been trying to find a solution for hours now. Online forums etc. are no help.

Does anyone else have the problem?

Or ideas for a solution?

Unfortunately, the only way to reach Adobe Support is to use the virtual assistant.

    I could get the problem solved today.

    For some reason my Windows, after an update, did not allow Adobe apps to use the microphone any longer.
    And, Adobe Premiere does not play sound of the videos, if the microphone is not allowed.

    In the regular windows settings for microphone it was set, that apps do have access to the micorphone. So, everything seemed fine to me there.
    But being very despreate today, due to a deadline, I scrolled through the list of the apps that use the microphone, underneath the general settings for the microphone in the windows settings. On the bottom of that list, after a bunch of software that uses the microphone there was the point 'allow desktop apps to use the microphone'. The was set to 'off'. After switching that on, everything worked again. That seems contratictive to the setting above, and switchig that on or off does not have an affect on all programms. But, it does on Adobe Software.

    So, to anyone who might have this issue after a windows update, seartch in the mic settings in the list underneath the genral settings.

      Is your audio default input set to None, as it should be?

       

      What is your mic, and how connected?

       

      Your speakers?

       

      Do you use system audio, or do you have a separate added sound card?

       

      Do you have any gaming stuff added? If so, what?

      The MMe thing relates to your OS ... I never do anything there other than the default it loads with. Isn't needed.

       

      I always leave the audio preferences settings for default input set to "none". You don't need normally to set anything there, it just runs off the system inputs at that point for mic.

       

      The only audio setting I change is to select the speakers, using the same setting name as the OS does for that system.

      It does not matter what I select there.
      All speakers or microphones do not work, due to the errors. Even though with all none Adobe programs they do work fine.

      How can I get Adobe (or Windows) to accept my speakers and microphone again?

      Hallo,

      meine Adobe Applikationen (Premiere und Audition, die anderen habe ich darauf nicht getestet, ich denke aber dass es ähnlich ist) behaupten, dass meine Lautsprecher und Mikrofon nicht funktionstüchtig sind. Das heißt, ich kann keinen Ton hören und nichts aufnehmen. Es wird entweder angezeigt, dass das Audiogerät, bzw. Mirkofon nicht funktionstüchtig sind oder es kommt 'MME Gerät: interner Fehler', wenn ich versuche die Auswahl der Audiogeräte zu ändern.

      Das die Geräte defekt sind stimmt jedoch nicht. Mit allen anderen Apps oder im Browser kann ich Ton abspielen, außerdem geht das Mirkofon problemlos mit dem Windows Recorder.

      Das Problem ist mit dem letzten Update ihrer Software aufgetaucht.

      Ich versuche jetzt seit Stunden eine Lösung zu finden. Online Foren etc helfen nicht weiter.


      Hat hier noch jemand das Problem?

      Oder Ideen für eine Lösung?
      Im Adobe Support erreicht man leider nur den virtuellen Assistenten.
