Question

Audio Compressed on Import to Premiere

I've scoured the internet for an answer to this issue, and can't seem to fix the problem.

When I import a song that I'm using for a project into Premiere, it is automatically compressed and sounds horrible. It sounds fine in the source file and super compressed in Premiere. I've used two different files. The first one is 192 kpbs and the second is 320kpbs. Both are compressed upon import. My sequence settings are set at 48000 hz, so neither file should be compressed as far as I know.

Files attached are media details in Premiere vs file details in my file explorer (x2 for each song) and my sequence settings.

Any ideas?

ETA: It also did this to the actual audio from the wedding ceremony, so it's not just the songs. The officiant's audio sounds horrible.

Make sure Default Input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input.

I tried that, then imported again and it's still compressing.
