Audio Cutting Out During Playback

Hello,

I'm working with very large 4.6k video files and I've been having a problem with the audio cutting out during playback in Premiere.  It will play for a couple of seconds and then just mute.  The video plays just fine, but the audio does not.

I've been looking online for solutions for days and none of the fixes have worked.  I tried moving all my footage off my external drive and working on internal drives, as well as having my project files on my NVME drive, but nothing has worked.

My system specs are:

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 8 cores - 3000 Mhz

16gb RAM

GeForce GTX 1060

Windows 10

And I've been using the 2017 version of premiere, because that's the version my school has so I can have compatibility between school and home.  But I've tried using 2018 and had the same problem.

Any ideas?
