Audio dropping out during playback

Hello, please can somebody help me?

I am in the middle of editing a project and the audio has been intermittantly dropping out during playback on the timeline.

I have to keep pausing, stopping and playing again.

This has got to the point where I cannot finish the edit becuase it's just not practical and taking forever.

Project needs to be finished in a week or so and I'm getting a bit desperate now.

I have tried various tips from different forums but this has not solved the issue.

Footage is 4k captured using the FX3 and audio captured using Senheisser MKE600 plugged directly into the XLR inputs.

First, try setting your audio input to "NONE" in Preferences > Audio Hardware.

If that doesn't clear the issue then we need lots more information to help you:
