Audio Drops Out - Premiere/Blackmagic Intensity Pro

I've posted this on Blackmagic's forum as well. Hoping someone on one site or the other has experienced this and has come up with a solution.

This has been going on for a while. I'm editing in Premiere Pro CC (up to date: v.12.12) and I tab out to another app. When I come back, audio does not play back even though the VU meters indicate it is there. My workaround is to:

1. Go into Premiere Pro>Preferences>Audio Hardware>Default Output

2. Switch it from Black Magic Intensity Pro 4K to Built-in Digital Output (though I think I could choose any output other than Black Magic)

3. Hit OK to leave Preferences

4. Go back into Premiere Pro>Preferences>Audio Hardware>Default Output

5. Switch it back to Black Magic Intensity Pro 4K

6. Hit OK to leave Preferences

I can now hear audio. Until the next time I need to leave Premiere Pro. Obviously, I would prefer not to have to go through all these steps, sometimes multiple times per day. Anyone have any idea how to address this?
